Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
I own a dozen fly rods, from #5 to #11. Two years ago I acquired a March Brown #6 pack rod for motorcycle/backpacking use on trout and smallmouth bass. I liked it so much I bought a #8 for Largemouth bass.
I now rarely use any other rod. I make these two weights work for just about everything except Steelhead. These rods perform superbly!
I was sceptical that a 7 piece rod would perform as well as a 2 piece but they are great. The nice , short travel tube means no transportation problems, ever.
