Sunglasses are one of the best investments you can make for protecting your eyes. There are sunglasses designed specifically for driving (casual sunglasses), fishing/ boating (polarized sunglasses), the city (fashion sunglasses) and outdoor adventures (sport sunglasses). At any time of year, ultraviolet (UV) rays can cause serious eye conditions that lead to vision impairment or loss. Sunglasses protect against eye damage with 100% UV protection. Besides direct sunlight, glare off flat surfaces like water and snow causes eye fatigue that is effectively blocked by sunglasses with polarized lenses. Sunlight reflected off snow, water and ice can also double your exposure to UV rays, making the need for polarized or sport sunglasses even more important. Also, the risks of eye damage are intensified at higher elevations, so be sure to wear sport sunglasses for alpine pursuits.
