Good shoes at a good price By Like to walk from Oakland, CA on 11/12/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Dries Quickly, Durable, Easy On/Off, Great Traction, Lightweight, Multi-Use Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I wore these hiking around Molokai, and they worked out well. I'm glad I looked at reviewers' comments and didn't order bigger. I usually wear a 7 or 7.5 and in hiking shoes would have ordered a 7.5. For these I ordered a 7 and they are perhaps a bit too roomy. But I think they will work out well.
Order these at least one size smaller By Dry feet are happy feet from Boston on 11/09/2009 Pros: Durable, Lightweight, Multi-Use Cons: Not Flexible, Slip Off Best Uses: Everyday/Practical Use Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: [...] these run huge and I had only ordered half a size smaller vs. a whole size. STP should really change their suggestion to order up. The representative was just wonderful to work with though. Still unsure if my re-ordered pair fit well, but far better than my original pair. The shoes are definitely on the stiff side, and with any luck, will break in without much ado. I haven't had them very long but did notice that on some wet surfaces, the shoes do not grip as I was expecting them to. Actually, that's the main reason why I bought them -- for improved traction over a pair of similar but cheaper shoes I currently own, but surprisingly, this isn't the case. These still get slippery. But at least these Asolos are supposed to be waterproof. Can't beat that, right?
By MoMo from Seattle, WA on 11/09/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Multi-Use Describe Yourself: Avid hiker Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Disregard the recommendation to order up! This shoe runs VERY big. I'm an 8 to 8 1/2 - the 8 1/2 ordered was huge, and the 8 I exchanged it for was big too, but can't be bothered exchanging it again. Nice and very sturdy shoe.
By Wasatch Hiker from SLC, Utah on 10/28/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Great Traction, Secure Fit Best Uses: Everyday/Practical Use, Hiking Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I love Asolo hiking boots. My first pair lasted me 5 years with hiking most every weekend during summer months. The site mentioned that they run small, I didn't think so but ordered half size up. Not a big deal but would have just ordered my true size.
By Darlene from Elk Grove, CA on 10/28/2009 Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Order about one half size smaller than usual, in spite of description. I wound up ordering 5 consecutive half sizes before I got to one that was small enough to fit!
By Lisa from Castle Rock, Colorado on 10/23/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Easy On/Off, Great Traction, Multi-Use Best Uses: Climbing, Everyday/Practical Use, Light Hiking Describe Yourself: Outdoor Lover Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: First of all, the description that this shoe runs small, and the suggestion to order up one full size is absolutely not true! I followed the suggestion and ordered a size 10.5 (I normally wear a women's 9.5) They were gigantic! I exchanged them for a size 9.5, which still feels a half-size too big! I really needed them right away, so I kept them. It turns out that with my Rohner wool hiking socks, the fit was better, but still a tad roomy, so I added an insole, which makes them fit okay. The shoe is of superb construction and quality. I wore them all day for the first time, with no discomfort whatsoever. The arch and ankle support is perfect. Highly recommend these shoes, but keep in mind, they run BIG, not small!
By Walking in the Rain from Portland, OR on 10/12/2009 Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I ordered 1 size larger as the catalog suggested, but they were much too big and I had to return them. Then I ordered 1/2 larger and they are still a bit too big. I am hoping that some after-market insoles will help with that. They are also a big stiff. But if I can get them broken in, they have good potential for my winter walks here in Oregon.
By Robulia from Salt Lake City on 10/01/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Looks, Multi-Use, Secure Fit Best Uses: Everyday/Practical Use, Light Hiking Describe Yourself: Camper, Fisher Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I've had them for about a week. They're comfortable, sturdy, all around great shoes. My only complaint is a sort of popping sound in the fabric near my left toe as I step. No big deal, but noticeable.
I have a pair of Asolo hiking boots. I ordered these in the same size and they were too big. I exchanged them for a half size down, and they're still on the roomy side. Ignore the "runs small" suggestion.
By Dry footed from Cambrige, MA on 09/21/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Lightweight Best Uses: Everyday/Practical Use Describe Yourself: Professional Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I haven't decided whether to keep this shoe yet only because I'm not sure of the fit. STP, I believe was incorrect in advising to order a whole size larger. The shoe runs LARGE. I read the testimonials and decided to buy a half size smaller and not sure if that's small enough -- my right heel slips out of the shoe, but the left is okay. But it seems like a very nice shoe all in all.
