By s0fireme from North Texas on 10/10/2009 Best Uses: Long Climbs, Outdoor Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels half size too big Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The shoes came the day I left for vacation, 1 week of hiking in the Ozarks. I took them along and put them on, right out of the box.
By Tori from Central California on 10/08/2009 Pros: Lightweight, Rugged, Versatile Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels half size too big Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The toe box and foot area is very nice. However, it is tight and stiff and rubs on the ankle area. It helps if you wear thick socks.

Asolo Essence Approach Shoes By steph from catskill mtns on 09/08/2009 Best Uses: Bouldering, Outdoor Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels half size too big Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought them for the tread as I have some rocky slopes to deal with on a weekly basis.
They are more than a half size large. It takes more than bulky socks to compensate.
First day I wore them my feet began to hurt and my bone spurs kicked up. I bought Kiwi Maseur orthotics, which fit on top of the shoes' own pads and my toes still have plenty of room. The Kiwi inserts make a huge difference and will allow me to use the shoes.
Any recommendation I made would be qualified on the above experience.
By jodono from Burlington, VT on 08/31/2009 Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels half size too big Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I actually bought this shoe for small hikes but decided to wear to work first. I am on my feet and running a lot in a big assisted living building (one area is on carpeted concrete) answering resident call lights and after 7 hrs I realized that I had a sizable blister on my heel. Hence, was glad I had another pair of shoes with me. I wore them again with a much thicker pair of socks and they seem to be okay. Am going on a short hike today, so will put them to the test again. I hope it works as I love the weight and comfort otherwize. I expected I would as I have a pair of 750 also that I've had for 8 years.
By Mac from Tulsa, OK on 08/12/2009 Pros: Rugged, Weather Resistant Cons: Back of shoe cut weird Best Uses: Light Trails, Outdoor Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels half size too big Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The shoe is a good sturdy shoe. I just wore them for much of the week at Kids Across America Camp in near Branson. Rocky trails, a lot of thick gravel to walk on. Had I worn them the whole week, I probably would have avoided spraining my ankle! The heel is cut kind of high. If you have problems with the heel of a shoe rubbing, either plan on wearing higher socks, bandaids or don;t get this shoe! Overall, I like this shoe!
By Run Jane Run from Green Mountain, CO on 06/25/2009 Describe Yourself: Avid Climber Sizing: Feels half size too small Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I used this shoe to hike and got massive blisters on my heals. THe heal cup is high and rubbed badly. This is too bad because the shoe is very tough and you cannot feel rocks under your feet when climbing.
not a very high quality shoe By trailmonster from olympia, WA on 06/09/2009 Cons: Back heel cuts into ankle, Bulky, Uncomfortable Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: The shoes look kind of cheap in person, and the back of the shoe is shaped poorly so it cuts into the ankle.
By gasmandon from Prosperity, PA on 05/22/2009 Sizing: Feels half size too big Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These are not approach shoes. Rather they are trail runners/light hiking. I was aware of that going in so it was no problem. Good shoe for my wife, required about 1 day break-in.
