By Marty from Lawrence, KS on 10/29/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable/No Break-In, Dries Quickly, Great Traction Cons: Not Durable/Wears Easily Describe Yourself: Recreational Walker/Hiker Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: This comfortable shoe unfortunately did not last. I bought it in the spring. I wear trail shoes on the job daily as a nature center director. The soles of both shoes began to separate after only 3 months.
By Sierra Hicker from Las Vegas on 08/09/2009 Pros: Arch Support, Breathable, Comfortable/No Break-In, Dries Quickly, Durable Best Uses: Grass, Light trekking, Mixed Terrain, Paved Trails Describe Yourself: Recreational Walker/Hiker Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These shoes are very good quality, comfortable from the start (no blisters/bleeding the first outing) they are light and I don't believe they are waterproof, unless you treat them (but it's feasible). I use them for light trekking in the Sierra Mountains and they are perfect. I can wear them all day and, when I come home, I forget to take them off. They run a little wide, they are not for narrow feet.
By Dog walker from Stockton, CA on 08/06/2009 Pros: Comfortable/No Break-In, Durable, Stabilizes Foot Best Uses: Mixed Terrain, Rocky/Unstable Terrain Describe Yourself: Recreational Walker/Hiker Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Excellent shoe and great value
I wanted them to fit, but alas..... By hates the cold from Rockville, MD on 07/29/2009 Pros: Great looking, Great Traction Best Uses: All Weather Conditions, Everyday, Grass, Mixed Terrain, Paved Trails, Rocky/Unstable Terrain Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought them because other reviews said they were too wide in the toe box, and I have wide feet there. Unfortunately too tight at ball of foot (toe box was OK) I wanted them to fit, as they looked great, had great traction, and great cushioning.
Perfect for touring in the rain By Walks in the Woods from Manhattan, KS on 05/27/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable/No Break-In, Dries Quickly, Sheds water, Shock-Absorbent, Stabilizes Foot Describe Yourself: Recreational Walker/Hiker Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Just walked all day in London in the rain. They were comfortable, dry, and protected my feet and joints beautifully. I love them!
Great Shoes/Order 1 Full US Size Smaller By North West from Manhattan, KS on 05/20/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable/No Break-In, Durable, Great Traction, Stabilizes Foot Best Uses: All Weather Conditions, Everyday, Mixed Terrain, Paved Trails Describe Yourself: Recreational Walker/Hiker Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I didn't pay enough attention to the other comments, so the first time I ordered a size too large--the problem is the European sizes are correct, and the U.S. sizes are not. I ordered US 8, and it was European 40. So my problem was solved when I ordered US 7, which was European 38, my usual size.
The only thing not perfect is I'd like a little more arch support, but inserts will take care of that problem
Great shoes--I haven't worn them yet, but I'm confident they will be a good buy. I love Asolos, and I wanted something lightweight but sturdy.
By bluDaisy from Phoenix, AZ on 04/19/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable/No Break-In, Durable, Great Traction, Shock-Absorbent Best Uses: All Weather Conditions, Everyday, Grass, Mixed Terrain, Paved Trails, Rocky/Unstable Terrain Describe Yourself: Outdoorsy Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I purchased these shoes about 2 years ago. STP recommended a whole size smaller, so I got a full size smaller than I would buy for hiking or running shoes, which happens to be my regular shoe size. When I first got these shoes, I really liked the way they look. They are stylish and nice, but the fit was annoying. The length was perfect, but the toe box was really wide. When tied, the shoes puckered around the base of the laces and I felt like I was wearing shoes that are too big for me. After wearing them for a few weeks, I really did end up liking them a lot. They are very comfortable, I never got blisters or hot spots, and the traction is excellent. I do a lot of bouldering and these have some really sticky soles. After 2 years, however, the soles are pretty worn out. The rest of the shoes look like they are still in great condition. There are no tears or fraying of the fabric. They are super durable. I won't buy another pair of these because I like to try new things, but I definitely recommend them for bouldering. There really is nothing better (not even Five Ten's!).

They are light and comfortable. I have worn them in wet conditions and my feet stayed dry. Nice!! I think they will be perfect for my time there and continue to be good around home.

I've worn them twice now and they are great!
Durable shoe for Cinderella's sisters By BeeBug from Utah on 01/02/2009 Pros: Attractive, Durable, Great Traction Best Uses: Everyday, Mixed Terrain, Rocky/Unstable Terrain Describe Yourself: Recreational Walker/Hiker Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Asolos have a reputation for durability and comfort, unlike glass slippers. But I recommend this particular model for Cinderella's sisters because these shoes seem rather long and narrow for the sizing.
I don't think I have wide feet, but these shoes seemed narrow. Due to the disagreement among raters regarding sizing, I purchased my usual size (8.5) plus the two smaller half sizes (8 and 7.5), with the intent of returning the two that don't fit.
Here's the sizing breakdown:
--The full-size smaller is just right in length but very 'pinchy' around the ball of my foot (way too narrow).
--The half-size smaller is a bit too long, and not quite so 'pinchy' but still uncomfortably narrrow.
--My regular size feels almost okay around the ball of my foot (slightly narrow), but the extra length (1 and 1/2 thumbs-width between my toe and the end of the shoe) makes the shoe feel 'sloppy' around my heels and arches as I walk.
Verdict: Still trying to decide what combo of bad fit is best... kind of like voting in elections.
General praise for Asolo: I have loved my old Asolos and wanted to find something equally comfortable and durable. They are at least 3 years old, worn 8+ hours a day for two years of that. It's hard to admit to myself that they are worn out, because the full-suede/leather upper is still in great shape, with no pulled stitches etc. The fabric lining around the ankle/heel has been worn out for a while, but the shoes are still comfortable and the lining doesn't show when I've got long pants on. But walking in snow is a hazard now- the tread has finally worn smooth on the bottom! Sadly, with the bad fit of all three of these new pairs, I think I'll have to keep looking for something else to replace my favorite shoes...
