It is very warm and light great for hiking in the 40's and 50's.

The side panels are more breathable and a little cold gets in. However, I think this is a good tradeoff as it does a better job of letting moisture out.
The sleeves are a little long and I wish it had velcro cuffs. Please note this is an Athletic cut. I knew that when ordering and got one size to small. It fits me pretty well. If you are carrying an extra 20+ pounds, I'd seriously consider going up a size. This also allows you to layer under it.

Granted, the sleeves should have some kind of closure/adjustment on them, but other than that, the fit is slim but not restrictive at all. You can feel the breathability of the jacket, and the windproofing is top notch.

This jacket is slightly shorter in length compared to my fleeces while the sleeves are slightly longer. However, the fit is still very good and the jacket is comfortable. While it is heavier than my fleeces, it remains very light when worn.
I haven't had a chance to test it through a Pacific Northwest winter but so far, everything feels great!

The piping gives it a retro track suit look but with cutting edge fabric technology. Also, the Lowe Alpine brand is a unique alternative to the patagonia/north face crowd.
