Great Fit Right out of the Box! By Denalidave from Columbia River Gorge on 10/16/2009 Pros: Comfortable/No Break-In Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: So far, so good! I have not done much in these yet, but this is the first mountaineering boot I have ever owned that was actually COMFORTABLE! They fit very well right out of the box. I have had other Asolo boots and they seem to fit my foot the best. The only drawback to these so far, is they won't take step-in crampons so I guess I need to buy a pair of strap-on pons now.
By CT Rover from Hartford, CT on 10/06/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Sturdy/Durable, Warm, Water Resistant Best Uses: Cold Weather, Harsh Terrain, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Just got these boots and love them so far! I was looking for a more rigid boot, and this fits the bill. They are heavier than my other boots, but seem more durable and appropriate for long treks. Will be traversing the presidentials this winter, will see then if they are what I was looking for.
Can't beat the price for a bomb-proof solid boot.
By rgrman from Pagosa Springs, CO on 10/05/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Great Traction, Water Resistant Best Uses: Heavy Loads, Mountaineering Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Great for light duty mountaineering where huge temperature drops not expected, since they have zero insulation. Used on Mt Rainier and they were perfect in relatively mild weather. Very easy to break in. I'd want a tougher, more rigid and insulated boot for more climbing in more adverse conditions (i.e., above 6000m). However, this is a great boot for the money
Definately one of a kind! By Quarry Dog from Dutch Harbor, Alaska on 10/01/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Flexible, Great Traction, Warm, Water Resistant Cons: Seems come apart easily Best Uses: Cold Weather, Day Hiking, Everyday, Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Light Loads, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Work in a rock quarry Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I love this boot and I will stick to buying asolo despite the higher price. The seems came apart a little easily, but to their credit, I put them thru hell. I work in a granite rock quarry and they take a beating. I am surprised really at how well they do under these extreme conditions. The waterproofing technology is second to none. I will continue to ROCK Asolos.

By WV Forester from Parkersburg, WV on 06/02/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Flexible, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Warm, Water Resistant Best Uses: Cold Weather, Everyday, Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Environmentalist Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I am a forester and I wear these boots everyday. I would recommend these boots to anybody that works outdoors. I also own a pair of the Asolo Granite boots and they too are a great boot. They are easy to break in and offer great support.
By ncwoodsman from Irmo, SC on 04/28/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Warm, Water Resistant Describe Yourself: Arborist Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I use this boot for big tree removals where I am on spikes for 1-4 hours sometimes more. I am a former AMGA certified guide who now eaerns a living pruning and removing trees. This is a great boot. I'm in SC now but I can imagine ice and mixed terrain in this puppy would be pretty sick.
By Marathon Mark from San Juan Islands, WA on 04/18/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Great Traction, Stiff - what you want, Sturdy/Durable, Warm, Water Resistant Best Uses: Cold Weather, Glissading, Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Long-Distance Hiking, Mountaineering, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Bought these boots to Summit Mount Baker in WA. I am in a 10 week class with local mountaineering club. These boots are the star of the class and have been performing perfectly thru all the training weeks so far. You want MOUNTAINEERING boots to be stiff soled to help you over rough terrain with heavy loads and you want to be able to kick the toe right into an ice wall if you need to. These boots are built for it. They also are built to handle the slip-on crampons, but for more security I've got strap-on crampons since I'm extra cautious on the glacier. If you find your size, you'll love these boots - and really great NEUTRAL coloring.
By Mountain man from Arcata, California on 03/23/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Warm, Water Resistant Best Uses: Cold Weather, Day Hiking, Everyday, Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Light Loads, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I have never had a better pair of boots in my life. There was no break in time, i rucked 85 lbs 11 miles in the Trinity Alps the first day i had them, and had no problem the entire time. Very warm for winter hikes, and the goretex keeps you stone dry!
I would order one size larger as these run some what smaller on the width.
By Nick Dungeness from Oregon Cascades on 02/03/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Water Resistant Best Uses: Cold Weather, Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Logged 35 miles on these boots and I'm really happy with them. They're incredibly comfortable and required no break-in. They keep my feet dry and the lacing system is great- you can easily tighten or loosen individual areas to create a sort of custom fit. A half-size bigger than what I normally wear is a perfect fit.
