By Rocky the Rockhound from Palo Alto, CA on 11/05/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Great Traction, Light weight, Sturdy/Durable Best Uses: Day Hiking, Everyday, Field work, Harsh Terrain, Light Loads, Long-Distance Hiking Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer, Geologist, Nurseryman, Tropical landscaper Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I have been buying Asolo for 20 years, mostly for mountaineering and geological field-mapping, and I swear by them. The FSN85 are the first not all-leather Asolo I have bought. I've had them only a short time, so my last word is not in yet! But so far they are great. By the way, all you guys complaining about the difficult lace hitches, those are designed that way - the lowermost clips are designed so that the laces "clip" in with enough friction to hold them. This allows you to use different degrees of lace-tightening for the lower half versus the upper half of the boot.

By Rob from Jersey Shore Pa. on 10/31/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable Best Uses: Day Hiking, Harsh Terrain, Long-Distance Hiking Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer, Professional/Guide Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I work for the state of Pa. and we paint about 30 miles of boundary line every year. These are the best hiking boot I have found yet for the job. I have been on sum of the harshest ground north central Pa has to offer and these boots take it. This is my 2ed pair and thay last 2 to 3 years. If you do any kind of hiking from light trails to the most rugged these are the boots to have.

By Hikermom from Twin Falls, Id on 10/21/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable Cons: My toes did get cold Best Uses: Day Hiking, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Adventurer wanna be Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I am a female with a big foot and foot issues so I always have to go quite a bit bigger in size to get enough room in toe box. While there may be other boots out there that have a roomier toe box, I really like the quality of this boot. I was a little disappointed that my toes were cold even with a liner and two pair of socks. However, I may not have had the right socks for the weather. These were a replacement boot for ones that were too small - same brand. They are keepers.

They are comfortable and seem pretty stout.

Excellent mid-weight backpacking boot. By E from Gillette, WY on 10/08/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Flexible, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable Best Uses: Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Long-Distance Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Perfect for backpacking with substantial load and uneven terrain. Would work for day hiking, but is a bit of overkill, given the substantial support and stiffness.
